UK Art Society Open Exhibitions: Deadlines for entry

Submission deadlines in the next six weeks for entries to open exhibitions by prominent art societies in the late summer and autumn are summarised below.

66th Annual Exhibition

Mall Galleries, The Mall London

Exhibition dates:
12th - 23rd October 2011
Deadline:
13th August at 17 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1Y 5BD

Submission fee:
  • £12 per artwork
  • £6 if under 35 years of age


Exhibits must be essentially marine in character.

The main interest must be the sea or tidal waters or some object essentially connected with these themes. Portraits must be of persons connected with the sea.
Royal Birmingham Society of Artists

Open Watercolour Exhibition

Exhibition dates:
24 August - 10 September 2011
Deadline for form: 4.00pm on 17 August 2011 at RBSA Gallery

Receiving day: 21 August at RBSA Gallery

Submission Fee: £12 per work

Hanging fee:
  • Large work £22
  • Small work £14
The first RBSA ‘Open’ exhibition to focus specifically on watercolour for a number of years, this exhibition promises to showcase the very best in new watercolours from across Britain.

The exhibition is open to all artists producing original artwork and working in watercolour.

90th Annual Open Exhibition 2011

Exhibition dates:
3rd October - 15th October 2011
Deadline for entry:
20 August 2011

Submission Fee: £8 per work for non-members

Oversize fees payable by all artists

Hanging Fee: £10 per work


The SGFA exists to promote fine art drawing skills and exhibit artwork demonstrating such skills.

Work that is eligible for submission includes:
(1) Drawings in any medium:- pencil, coloured pens and pencils, pen and ink, pastels and oil pastels, charcoal, conte, etc.
(2) Any original artwork, including paintings, which demonstrate evidence of drawing by hand:- original printmaking, watercolours, acrylics, oil pastel drawings, etc.

The London Group Open Exhibition 2011

Submission Fee: vary - £20 for first work and £10 for third; no payments by credit/debit cards

At least half the works in both shows will be by non-members.

Submissions  of work are invited  from visual artists  working in any medium including,  painting,

The Natural Eye - 48th Annual Exhibition

Submission fee:
  • £12 per artwork
  • £6 if under 35 years of age
Any work depicting wildlife subjects is admissible. The committee will also consider work that evokes the spirit of the natural world. Botanical subjects and domestic animals are NOT admissible.

Acceptable media: Work may be in any medium including sculpture and original prints (please detail edition and how many are available).
Royal West of England Academy

159th Autumn Exhibition

Exhibition Dates:
30 October - 31 December 2011
Deadline for entries:
30 September 2011 (5pm) via online submission- leading to pre-selection phase

Submission Fees - vary between £14 and £16 per item

Delivery for final selection:
14-15 October

Regional pick- up system: £10 per item
The Autumn Exhibition is a mixed discipline exhibition, including painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture and architecture. It attracts artists both regionally and nationally.
