Laura Knight (1877-1970) was the first woman artist to be made a Dame of the British Empire. She was an Impressionist Painter who was also renowned for her drawing and graphical art skills. She was the first woman to be honoured with a retrospective Exhibition at the Royal Academy in 1965. She was also the official war artist at the Nuremburg Trials after World War 2.

About Andrew Wyeth - American Artist
Find out about Andrew Wyeth (1917-2009) - one of the USA's most popular and celebrated artists. Wyeth was an American Contemporary Realist Painter who worked mainly in watercolor and/or egg tempera. Sydney Parkinson - Resources for Botanical Art Lovers
Sydney Parkinson was one of the botanical artists on Captain Cook's journey's on the Endeavour. He was the first botanical artist to draw and paint plants collected on the exploratory voyages and he was the first artist to set foot on Australian soil, to draw an authentic Australian landscape, and to portray Aboriginals from direct observation. Pierre Redoute - Resources for Botanical Art Lovers
Pierre Redoute was one of the most talented botanical artists ever known. Redoute was fortunate to become an artist who was patronized by the kings of France from Louis XVI to Louis-Philippe. His two famous books were
- Les Liliacees (1802 - 15) which contained 500 plates of lilies.
- Les Roses (1817 - 21) He was known for his roses and his series of rose paintings are considered to be his finest work. His work continues to be very popular and is widely reproduced.
