93 works by 73 artists from across the UK have been selected for the Sunday Times Watercolour Competition 2014. The first prize is £10,000 and the exhibition opens at the Mall Galleries on 15th September 2014.

Below you can find a list of the names of the artists together with links to their websites where these could be found.  Any errors please let me know (see side column for how to contact me).
  • Bill Aldridge - founder of Drawing London
  • Delia Baillie - a watercolour artist based in Dundee
  • Alberta Bamonte - an Italian artist who has lived in the UK since 1984. An interesting website - I think her work might be printing with water-based inks
  • Guy Beggs - mostly works in oil on his website
  • Varsha Bhatia - a watercolour artist specialising in very precise architectural paintings. Previously selected for the STWC. The work selected for the exhibition is a painting of Westminster Abbey in ink.
  • Akash Bhatt - works in a variety of media; a previous prizewinner in this competition
  • Patricia Bray -  aScottish artist; I'm not sure if this is the correct website but it looks more likely than not
  • Isobel Brigham - an example of how you can have just one page and say quite a lot about your art just using images.

  • Christine Bruce - studying for a BA Hons Creative Arts at the OCA

  • Anca Carrington - the work selected is a sumi ink wash painting called Day after day
  • Rosalind Chapman - her work has appeared in exhibitions for other art competitions

  • Julie D Cooper - based in St Ives, Cornwall and St Albans, Hertfordshire. Uses gouache.

  • Leo Davey - a painter and illustrator whose work indicates a fascination with patterns and mark-making

  • Shirley Felts - She's American by birth but has lived in London since 1970. I had a print of a Shirley Felts painting on my wall for many years when I was younger. She's masterful at painting negative spaces in watercolour. I'm hoping the work which has been selected in a painting of a rainforest as there is an excellent gallery of such paintings on her website.

  • Marguerite Horner - a landscape painter with a difference. She typically works monochromatically and in oils. I don't think I've ever seen her work in watercolour

  • Kathryn Maple - There's a considerable amount of drawing in Kathryn's paintings. I'm guessing that the painting selected comes from her Dumfries House Residency in 2014
