- The Art of Mindy Lighthope is recommended by Sketchbook Squirrel. Mindy was the Botanical Art program coordinator at NYBG from 1996 to 2006.
- Drawn to Paint Nature is a journal of botanical and nature art through the seasons in west Wales
- Sketching in Nature - is the group blog started by Cathy Johnson which has been featured here before - but it's always worth reminding people.
- Art Plantae Today is a blog about all matters relating to botanical art. This week it featured a post about a Botany Program for Botanical Artists Launched in UK
- Another art video - this time by Debbi Kaspari (Drawing the Motmot). Gray Winged Trumpeter Helps Me Draw in the Amazon is very funny - as well as allowing you to see how Debbi creates her drawings. Thanks to Jamie Williams Grossman who highlighted it on Facebook

National Art Galleries and Museums
- The Olympics: I can see I'm going to have to start writing about the Olympics. Not least because the American Track and Field Team are apparently going to be taking over my local Leisure Centre! Anyway - before I start sketching the super athletic let us consider the super artistic - here's my post about the Cultural Olympiad 2012 - Artists taking the lead all over the UK!
- The first solo exhibition of FCB Cadell’s work to be held in a public gallery in seventy years can now be seen at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art until 18th March 2012 - The Scottish Colourist Series - FCB Cadell. There's a very nice video about him on the website.
- Damien Hirst must be getting old. Tate Modern is giving him a retrospective next year (April 4 – September 9 2012) as part of the London Festival.
This will be the first substantial survey of his work in a British institution and will bring together key works from over twenty years.I wonder if he's giving them money in the same way he gave the Wallace Collection money for their exhibition of his really awful paintings? - The Royal College of Art has been holding its 18th Secret Postcard exhibition RCA Secret. The cards were sold to the public in a huge one-day sale last Saturday with each postcard costing just £45. You can see a slideshow which reveals some of the work by some of the famous artists

Regional Museums / Galleries
- Leonardo's only self-portrait is currently on display in Turin. Leonardo. The Genius. The Myth is on show until January 29 2012 at the Reggia di Venaria, a 17th century palace just outside the city.
- The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston has two exhibitions of note:

- Ellsworth Kelly - this is a review of the exhibition by the New York Times - Ellsworth Kelly's wood sculptures in Boston
- Postmasters Gallery has an exhibition of Derivatives by William Powhida. Absolutely fascinating.

I have seen Pete out and about painting in Bath. I have never bothered him as I wouldn't like to be myself, but love to see his work and spot where it was painted from.
