Today I seem to be running a temperature, am feeling 'under the weather' and generally having problems keeping my eyes open so this is a very short post as I can't do my normal "read round". That requires my eyes to be open!

| Paintings in the Annual Exhibition of the Society of Wildlife Artists |
- Two very complimentary reviews of the Annual Exhibition of the Society of Wildlife Artists. I'd like to emphasise that this is one of the best exhibitions of representational art you can see in London period. The variety of approaches used to represent wildlife in its natural habitat is stunning.

- You can also see, at the SWLA Exhibition, the painting by Stella Mays which beat more than 1,000 entries to become the Overall and Endangered Species Winner of the BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year 2011. (see image at the top of the page)
- Bridget Hunter (Bridget Hunter's Paintings) has work in a group show "Little Wonderland" exhibiting works no larger than 15 x 15 inches, proving that good things really do come in small packages - at The Whitehouse Gallery in Scotland (5 November 2011 - 4 January 2012)

A new Art Gallery for regional art in the UK
William Morris: Story, Memory, Myth is the inaugural exhibition at Two Temple Place - in collaboration with the William Morris Gallery in Walthamstow which is currently closed until July 2012. It focuses on how Morris told stories through pattern and poetry.
I very much like the idea of being able to see art from the regional galleries and less well known galleries in London in a central London location. The address is 2 Temple Place, London WC2R 3BD and it's very close to Temple tube station.

- Joanne Mattera's Marketing Mondays post last week asks Who's Self-taught? She has particularly pertinent comments for anybody who has been successful in their first career and is now thinking of switching to a late career as an artist. The comments are a good read as well

- Jackie Simmonds (Jackie Simmonds Artyfacts) has a very useful blog post about Attending a Workshop - written from the perspective of a very experienced tutor. It's probably the best advice I've ever seen written by a tutor and IMO contains some pointers for fellow tutors as well as students! [I've added it into Art Holidays - Resources for Artists].
- If you have problems managing your time you might find The Sillyness of Busyness to be thought-provoking. I recognised one or two naughty habits of mine!
Art Materials
- Art Materials Live is at the National Exhibition Centre next week. Beware this is very largely now devoted to the hobby craft market. I find it very odd that the NEC website does NOT list the exhibitors.
