Final Call for Online Entries: RMS Annual Exhibition 2026

The deadline for ONLINE ENTRIES for the 2026 Annual Exhibition of the Royal Society of Miniature Artists, Sculptors and Gravers is Friday 28th August 6pm (GMT)

The Royal Society of Miniature Artists, Sculptors and Gravers is the world’s foremost organisation dedicated to the centuries-old tradition of miniature art. 

What is Miniature Art

Although miniature art was considerably bigger when the society was first created, the current state of play is highlighted in this introduction to the art form by Anthony Lester (which comes from one of my earlier blog posts).

With a maximum size of 6 x 4 inches (15.24 x 10.16 cm), the painting of miniatures demands self-discipline, for where large pictures give some latitude in composition, miniatures are unforgiving of the least mistake; a tolerance of even a millimetre is hardly permitted.

Below is a quick summary of arrangements for

• the exhibition

The Exhibition

This year's exhibition is at a new venue - which is in Cirencester (ie. not in London). The explanation of "why" can be found here.

• Venue: The Alliston Centre (RAU), Stroud Rd, Cirencester GL7 6JR 
• Exhibition dates: Sat 24th October – Mon 2nd November 2026, open 9am-5pm daily (closing at 12 noon on the final day) 
• Opening and Award ceremony: 12 noon, Saturday 24th October.

I think it's probable I'll not be attending this year which is a pity.

I do hope it's back in London next year.

Online Entries by Non-Members

Entries by Non-Members are always welcome but you MUST READ the 2026 prospectus for non members which details the the format and process. 

(Do not get confused with the one for members!) 

This details, among other things:

• Sizing of artwork: 
• Rectangles and ovals 115 x 152mm including frame. 
• Squares 115 x 115mm including frame. 
• Circular 115mm including frame. 
• Mount board no wider than 20mm – must be clean and not overcut in the corners of the mount board. 
• Frames should not be wider 25mm nor deeper than 20mm. 
• Sculptures should not be more than 200mm on the longest side.
• what is NOT acceptable artwork eg No digital art, 3D printing, photographs, lithographic printing.
• which materials are BANNED

Banned materials: Any artwork made from or with animal/marine products such as ivory or bone will be automatically rejected by the Council. This includes all ivory, old ivory, piano keys, tusk and scrimshaw etc. Also, any restricted or endangered wood species such as Lignum Vitae, Rosewood, Ipe and Cumaru etc.

• How to photograph and label your artwork - including ON THE GRID required to check size
• Minimum sale price 
• Portraits £350, 
• Sculpture £190, 
• Other works £190. 
• (guideline - the average sales price in 2024 was £200-£300). 
• NOTE: Royal portraits are only allowed if they are genuine commissions for which sittings have been granted. Historical portraits are allowed.
