ReplyDeleteAccording to two teenagers talking to the BBC in Croydon, the riots were to show they police that they can do what they like. Apparently it's all the rich people's fault and that's why they've attacked businesses in their local communities.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe what I was reading about the riots, Katherine. How horrible! It sounded to me like many were just rioting for the pure fun of it with no cause in mind at all. A business that had been in a family for generations was simply burned to the ground and now they say there's been a death. Brought tears to my eyes. I hope you are keeping safe.
ReplyDeleteIt was just two months ago that we sat horrified watching the t.v. as the riots took place took place in Vancouver after the Stanley Cup. Those violent and destructive acts affected all of Canada and I am sorry to hear that your beautiful city is in the midst of such chaos. I hope you and those you love emerge unscathed.

ReplyDeleteThankfully, the 16,000 police on the streets of London tonight have more or less stopped anything too bad happening in London
Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the rest of the UK. Bad rioting in Birmingham, West Bromwich, Manchester, Liverpool and Nottingham
Please take care of yourself and stay safe. It seems as if the world is at odds with itself. Last year, there was rioting in the streets of Paris, this year London. And we have surely had our share in the US from time to time.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear that this awful violence continues. Rioting just because they can? How obscene! When they reported about it in the states the reporter noted that the rioters find organizing the violence has been made easier by using twitter, cell phone and facebook.
