Society of Wildlife Artists - Receiving Days

The Society of Wildlife Artists is a registered charity that aims to generate an appreciation of and delight in the natural world through all forms of fine art, based on representing the world’s wildlife.
 
The SWA Annual Exhibition is at the Mall Galleries from 22nd September to 2nd October with a private view on Tuesday 21st September.  There are a wide range of awards for this very popular exhibition including Birdwatch Artist of the Year Award in association with Swarovski (£1,000 plus optical equipment).
      Admissable work:  Any work depicting wildlife subjects is admissible. The committee will also consider work that evokes the spirit of the natural world. Maximum of six works to be submitted. Maximum of six works will be selected.

      Acceptable media: Work may be in any medium including sculpture and original prints (please detail edition and how many are available). Work exhibited previously in a London gallery is not admissible.

      Work which is NOT admissible

      • workt which has previously been exhibited in London
      • botanical subjects, pets and domestic animals
      • work in metal frames, poorly framed or badly presented
      • photographic reproductions/mechanical prints
      How to submit work to the SWA:  These are:
      The Society of Wildlife Artists Receiving Days are Friday 13th and Saturday 14th August 2010 (10am - 5pm) at:
      • the administrative offices of the Mall Galleries at 17 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1Y 5BD
      • Artists may hand-in their work at the Royal West of England Academy (RWA), Bristol on the first receiving day (always a Friday) from 12noon – 3pm.  (Artists expense / organised by Art Moves - 020 7352 7492)
      • other regional submissions
      • non UK artists can also submit work.  It's too late for this year's exhibition but it's worth making a note of the details for overseas artists for next year.

So much so that as a genre, it has art societies, exhibitions, competitions and galleries which are dedicated to the cause.
