Who is Making A Mark?

The problem when you've developed two art websites, two art blogs and 50+ resource sites for artists providing advice and information is making sense of it.

Making sense of how all those sites also relate to one individual, ie me, is even more difficult - but I've had a go.

Today, I'm introducing Who is Making A Mark? (http://www.squidoo.com/makingamark-lensography). I've always had a very clear idea in my own head of who I am and how all the different bits of me fit together - but I guess it hasn't always been clear to others. Hopefully this site addresses this. I have to confess that blogging and creating the resource sites have also reinforced and highlighted two particular notions which have always been a fundamental part of me - a love for both writing and sharing.

My new site might also be called a lensography (a Squidoo term) but it's a bit more than that.

Who is Making A Mark? takes all the important notions which drive me, my artwork, my writing and my sharing of information and tries to connect and translate all of these through to the big themes which underpin who I am and what I do.

I'm quite pleased with it - it's getting nearer to explaining what I'm about than anything else I've produced so far!

It's punctuated by what are called IMPORTANT THINGS. Mine starts with
The Most Important Thing

I'm committed to drawing and sketching AND writing AND sharing information about art.

and continues with
The NEXT Most Important Thing

My philosophy is that it is good to share and we all have something to learn.

and then
What stimulates my art

I'm stimulated by:
- the impact of light on colour and form
- repetition and variation
- the structure, shapes and patterns I discover when looking into flowers or at scenes around me.

followed by
Drawing from life is really important

I believe that developing an ability to draw from life is the one thing that teaches artists how to look and how to see.

plus
Learn from the Masters

We can all learn from artists who have achieved mastery in their field.

and finally...........
The Ultimate Challenge....

....is drawing your cat! Drawing from life doesn't just have to be about drawing people....

The problem with creating new information sites is that I always get distracted into finishing off other ones I've already started and end up working on three at once.

So apart from the above, you've also got two more new sites to look at!

Botanical Art Book Reviews for Artists

Botanical Art Book Reviews for Artists is a home for my book reviews of botanical art books which were first published on this blog plus (in due course) reviews by other people. (Do let me know if you've done a review).

I've also included reviews of books by or about famous artists who have been interested in the structure and patterns of flowers.

Venice - a Resource for Artists and Art Lovers

Venice - a Resource for Artists and Art Lovers is about Venice - and contains links to resources for artists and art lovers living in and visiting Venice. The information it contains is based on the suggestions of artists who have visited Venice or live in Venice

  9. I'm still trying to figure out how to take a picture like Jeanette does with her hand under her chin. Mine just looks like I am holding up my double chins. Doesn't fool anyone.
