This post is for all those like wildlife art and for those who like drawing or painting wildlife. My very good friend and fellow Fine Line Artist Gayle Mason is exhibiting for the first time in the National Exhibition of Wildlife Art (NEWA) which opens today. This is a very prestigious exhibition for wildlife art in the UK.
The National Exhibition of Wildlife Art is an open annual exhibition based in the North of England. NEWA was conceived in 1994 by a group of artists interested in depicting wildlife, with conservation as one of their underlying concerns.....The aims of the exhibition are to promote and display outstanding examples of wildlife art from both professional and amateur artists.
NEWA: About NEWA
Gayle went to the Private View earlier this week and came back saying it was both excellent and very busy with lots of collectors demonstrating their intent to buy. She was very impressed by the standard of the artwork - which you can see on the 2007 online gallery link (to the catelogue listing). Alternatively you can view the artists exhibiting sorted alphabetically here and then click on their name to see their work (e.g. Gayle Mason). Links to artists' websites are also provided. The range of wildlife subjects is very varied - you can search by keyword here. Gayle noted that it particularly features British wildlife and birds. Which is perhaps partly explained by the Exhibition Awards (keep scrolling down the page to see commended, highly commended, the David Cook Drawing Award and the Birds Bird Birds Awards and the Birds Illustrated Award.

Award winners were as follows:
Sales were very brisk at the Private View with red spots appearing fast on a lot of the artwork. Gayle saw prices ranging from £90 to £6,500 with most being in the £000s with the oil paintings, as usual, being the highest priced. Apparently 17,000 visitors saw the 2006 exhibition which augurs very well for sales throughout the exhibition!

Many congratulations to NEWA for also having the best exhibition by a society of paintings on-line that I've ever seen:
  • all images by all artists are displayed
  • every image is displayed in gallery format plus has an individual page to itself
  • The page for individual image has information which means that anybody who is unable to visit the exhibition can still have a jolly good look at the art and can purchase it. Information covers:
    • a large watermarked image - which can be clicked to see an even larger watermarked image
    • all relevant details - price, dimensions and medium used
    • a purchase button.
Exhibition details:
The National Exhibition of Wildlife Art (NEWA) is the biggest wildlife art exhibition in the UK outside London. The 2007 website opened today and showcases the work of all the artists gaining entry to the show. All work will be available for purchase through the website. The exhibition is held at Gordale Garden Centre on the Wirral and runs from the 20th July - 5th August from 9.30am - 6pm every day.
