Can only agree with Robyn that the Orsay collection is very special & emotive.

One of the Rouen series is currently in Sydney at the Art Gallery of NSW until January 2009 (Rouen Cathedral facade & tour d'Albane (morning effect) 1894)- Unfortunately only on a loan from Boston, Good video of the exhibition here
http://www.smh.com.au/interactive/2008/entertainment/monet/index.htmlFred Marshhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04388746161974077855noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20645140.post-1702707565637483022008-11-11T17:58:00.000+00:002008-11-11T17:58:00.000+00:00My first visit to Musee d'Orsay caused me to cry -...My first visit to Musee d'Orsay caused me to cry - there are so many paintings there that are so familiar that it feels like meeting long lost family. I suspect many people have the same experience.

Now I'm trying to imagine what an incredible experience it would have been to be able to see ALL those cathedral paintings together at the original exhibition. You are obviously enjoying tracking them down.Robyn Sinclairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01663604160297996421noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20645140.post-89895293728000976412008-11-11T17:00:00.000+00:002008-11-11T17:00:00.000+00:00No I ddn't know - how interesting. No I ddn't know - how interesting.Making A Markhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13509483023337008890noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20645140.post-91160869694949671692008-11-11T16:47:00.000+00:002008-11-11T16:47:00.000+00:00A very interesting blog. Whether he was copying Monets example I do not know, but similarly they are all painted from a very similar view point. I was there earlier in the year and took a photo from the same location. Very little has changed. Did not have time to do a sketch.bvpainterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14804331299617862772noreply@blogger.com
