A different way of promoting an exhibition of paintings of places

I'm most impressed with the Google Map being used to promote the upcoming annual exhibition of the Royal Society of Marine Artists at the Mall Galleries (11th - 20th October 10am-5pm daily)

Sennen in Cornwall on the map (on the right)
PLUS the painting of "Sand Ripples at Sennen" by Richard Horner on the left
It comprises a map of the UK - with all the sites marked on where painting was made or the location a painting is about.

It's a great way of
  • demonstrating very clearly that paintings have been made around the UK (although they could do with a few from Northern Ireland!)
  • connecting potential buyers to the places they know well - and the marine painters who have painted the places they know.
So far as I am concerned, I'd love to see other art exhibitions with paintings of places do likewise!

I recommend viewing full screen (click the icon top right of the bar) on a desktop because then it opens in a new window and when you click a marker pin the relevant pic and painting details come up without obscuring the map.

There are lots of very silly people who don't understand that Google is not stupid and that links posted to a Blogger comment are:
* NOT LIVE and
* CARRY NO LINK JUICE.
They continue to post spam comments - despite this blog using both word verification and moderation that states very clearly that no spam will be published.

So I've SUSPENDED COMMENTING BY EVERYBODY but me. This allows past comments to still be seen.
