Calls for EntriesI do a ‘Call for Entries’ post about most competitions which provides the systematic overview plus hints and tips. Essentially each 'Call for Entries' post aims to provide simple answers to simple questions about who can submit, what can you submit, how to enter etc.  
Links to these are listed below for competitions this year (and past years  2010-2012)
The reason these are important is because while links to the call for entry pages of organisers may disappear after the competition is over, you can always be sure that you can check out key details about what has been said in the past about eligibility and criteria in my regular Call for Entries blog posts.  
Selected ArtistsI often do listings of selected artists - which often generate a lot of traffic for artists website.  Make sure I can find your website if you get selected
Exhibition ReviewsReviews of exhibitions I've seen are also listed below.  These include photographs of the artwork selected for the juried exhibition where possible. These can be helpful to those thinking about submitting an entry to art competitions in 2013 - or so I'm told! :)

Major UK Art & Photography Competitions 2013

At the beginning of every January I post a schedule - this is the schedule of all the Major Art Competitions in the UK in 2013.  Details will then be added into this page as they become available.  Brief summaries are detailed below

 All competitions are listed in order of the date of the deadline for entries
  • RWS Contemporary Watercolour Competition 2013 aims to encourage innovation and experimentation in water-based mediums and seeks practising artists at the forefront of watercolour painting.  Any artist (providing they are not a member of the RWS) working with water-based media can apply. We welcome international applications
    • Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize 2013 Only original, two-dimensional works in any painting or drawing media, that have been completed in the last three years, and that have not been previously exhibited, are eligible.
    • The Woon Foundation Painting and Sculpture Art Prize
      • Call for Entries - 1st September 2012
      • Deadline for Entries - Noon, 30 January 2013
          Major Art Competitions outside the UK 2013

          In 2013, I intend to highlight the major International Art Competitions which are hosted in other countries.  All suggestions as to which competitions should be featured are welcome - please leave a comment.
          • The Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition 2013 
            • this portraiture competition is open to all professional artists aged 18 and over who are currently living and working in the USA

          Major UK Art & Photography Competitions 2012

          Major Art Competitions in the UK 2012 is my blog post which summarises what's happening in 2012.  It indicates that all updates will be found on this page and on my website which provides another bookmark for relevant information about art competitions in the UK.  

          In general the art competitions have significant cash prizes or are recognised as very prestigious juried competitions.  I'm also including the major photography competitions - partly because it's an interest of mine and partly because the exhibitions are to my mind equal to major painting competitions in terms of the calibre of work exhibited.

          Last year I ordered the art competitions below in order of prestige and prize money.  This year the order is by deadline for registration or submission of entries - which you can see highlighted in red.

                    • The 2012 Saatchi Gallery / Sunday Telegraph Art Prize for Schools (First Prize £10,000)
