These are my three coloured pencil drawings which are currently auditioning for the catalogue for the Society of Feline Artists 13th Annual Exhibition at the Llewellyn Alexander Gallery (28th August to 18th September 2009). The Gallery likes to have all the images in by mid April. My submission scaped in just in time as I had to get both the new computer and then the new graphics package sorted out first!

This is a quickie post today as today I'm off to the Private View for the Annual Exhibition of the Society of Botanical Artists at Westminster Hall - which this year includes two of my drawings! The show opens to the pblic on Friday.

I'll be doing a review tomorrow with photographs plus a count up of how many coloured pencil artists are included this year!

  1. It's those darn kittens again! Haha! Back to take over the world with cute fuzziness...

Best of luck at the gallery. :)

  2. It's hard to choose. These are all wonderful drawings, Katherine. One gets used to looking at your sketches and can forget what a high standard of finished art you make. I think I like the one between cushions best. All winners, so good luck with the catalogue.

  3. These 3 pictures are absolutely adorable! My favorite is "Meet the Kittens". I suppose it's because they are so perfectly framed by their colorful cushion. Thanks so much for sharing these. You have given me some great ideas for a future painting of my own. Thanks, Katherine! There is no doubt these will be included in the catalog for the "Society of Feline Artists". Best wishes.

  4. I just love "Meet the Kittens" - the angle and composition are so perfect for those cozy kittens on a beanbag! Good luck with the entry - when do you hear?

  7. I love the pile of little furry bodies and those faces. They're all great pieces. So does this mean you have a house full of kittens or just borrowed some? :)

    Good luck!

  8. I ought to do more kitten drawings - looks like there's a lot of cat lovers out there!

Thanks for all the great comments

Jeanette - these are all mine one way or another but they're not current. One set is Polly's second litter and the others are her grandchildren who lived round the corner.

Cosmo takes on nursemaid/babysitter/big plump pillow duties while there are kittens in the house. Or rather he did - Polly has now had the 'op'!

  9. Cute kitties!
We had one give birth in the closet once upon a time.
